Dog Park is a mid-weight, competitive set-collection and point-to-point movement game in which players take on the role of dog walkers.
There's a wonderful blind bid in the recruitment phase and then players will inevitably get in each other's way as they stroll through the park, gathering the necessary resources to create an inviting kennel for their dogs. The end game scoring incorporates conservative bidding, nabbing reputation points during dog walks, and accomplishing personal objectives. The coolest reputation points that players vie for are the breed bonus points which go to the player who gathered the most dogs in each breed, earning victory points from 8 to 2, depending on where they were randomly dealt at the beginning of the game. Dog Park scratches that dog itch and gives you everything you've wanted in a game about dogs. Watch it here: youtu.be/Wu4bqEnNQqc

Join me in this overview of Verdant, a new card placement game from Flatout Games. Players collect and care for their houseplants as they cozy up the place.
Verdant is a puzzly spatial game for 1-5 players and takes about 30 minutes to play. It's my new favorite filler game. There's open drafting, set collection, and grid placement. What's not to like?! Watch it here: youtu.be/cjvXFdkC0ew Create the best ecosystem in Keystone: North America! It's an open-drafting, card laying game where players compete to protect animals in the environment, offering them the best, happiest habitat.
There's just enough strategy to please every gamer here! Check out the three things I like about this 60-minute game. Watch it here: youtu.be/W5fi9kjz8Z8 I received my Kickstarter-backed copy of The Spill and couldn't wait to play it. There are several features/mechanics that sold me on backing it, which include a dice tower, cooperative play, and scalable difficulty.
Players will attempt to contain the oil flowing from the rig at the center of the board, remove what oil they can from the waters (either temporarily or permanently), and hopefully rescue as many of the marine animals as they can. Check out my overview & review of The Spill now: youtu.be/FiqbJDN45co The Kims are at it again! One is fighting for The Dragon Road while the other advocates for the newest installment of The Crystal Peaks. Yes, the Kickstarter fairies delivered the hottest version of Almanac to the Kims' door and they can't wait to show it off.
Both games are designed by Scott Almes of Tiny Epic fame, so you'd better be ready for a good game! Check out this video to see what makes the ALMANAC system so good. Watch it here: youtu.be/FbIyvuwYrtM Join me for a silly game night filled with witches, ghosts, and mummies!
And, yes, this game night is family friendly and perfect for kids during the Halloween season. Watch it here: youtu.be/2TNPfGxoSco Canvas, the layering card game about art, has two expansions: Reflections and Finishing Touches. I talk about both here in this video!
This video explores Reflections in detail and previews what's to come with the upcoming Kickstarter campaign for Finishing Touches. There are some wonderful components and mechanics introduced here in these two expansions that I can't wait to share with you. Watch it here: youtu.be/jqO9SWqYERg If I could plan a game night for my friends on Halloween, these are the games, and in the order, that I would play them in.
Join me for some thrills and chills in this spooky and scary night of horror-themed games. They are pretty horrific and require maturity to play, so adults only! Watch it here: youtu.be/LdkB2m4BhWk What do I like better than Nanga Parbat? Maybe the two mini-expansions: Hidden Objectives and Missions Pack.
Both of these and the base game are explained in this video, so check out what's so cool about Nanga Parbat and why you definitely should be playing this 2-player climbing game. Watch here: youtu.be/VuwU2wxi3m0 Tenpenny Parks is a clever strategy game that combines some really strong mechanics: players will find themselves vying for spots on the carousel, nabbing that perfect concession stand, and earning awe, joy, and thrills on the main board.
